Money is getting noisier.
He comes home at night
with figures jingling in his head.

Money is getting taller.
It whistles down at him
from new scaffolding in the old sites.

Money is getting long-faced.
It keeps his fingers busy
when he would rather be undoing a button.

Money is getting ambitious.
It wants him to sell his old banger
and sit a girl down  beside him in comfort.
